Nevada County Arts Council will lead a panel discussion on FOREST ⇌ FIRE. FOREST ⇌ FIRE, conceived by artist, curator, and activist, Michael Llewellyn, is an exhibit anchoring a larger, artist-led movement responding to a growing recognition that Western U.S. forests are in ecological collapse, and sharing solutions offered by vital research conducted at UC Berkeley’s Sagehen Creek Field Station in Truckee, CA. FOREST ⇌ FIRE invites thinkers, scientists, industry experts, timber innovators, policy experts and the public to share research and inspire meaningful conversation. Flowing thematically through past, present and future, FOREST ⇌ FIRE will be an inter-disciplinary, multi-sensory installation who’s Opening will coincide with the Center for Art + Environment’s Conference at the Nevada Museum of Art in 2020. Michael Llewellyn is Artist in Residence at Nevada County Arts Council and will be joined by his producer Heather Llewellyn; Jeff Brown and Faerthen Felix, Directors at UC Berkely’s Sagehen Creek Field Station; Bill Fox, Director, Center for Art + Environment at Nevada Museum of Art; Shelly Covert, Nevada City Rancheria Spokesperson, and Eliza Tudor, Executive Director, Nevada County Arts Council.
